Goldwyn daughter claims Newry Show championship

Downpatrick breeder Jim Morrison had a day to remember at Newry Show, claiming the Holstein honours, the interbreed dairy award, and the overall champion of champions ribbons.

The winning entry was Inch Goldwyn Breeze EX92, a third calver producing 48 litres of milk daily.

The overall cattle championship award was judged by Cyril Millar, Coleraine. He said: ”I opted for the Holstein because she is a very balanced animal with great scope and a tremendous udder.

Junior heifer – 1, and 2, Andrew Magowan.

Heifer, not in-milk – 1, Neil Pepper; 2, Andrew Magowan.

Cow, in-milk – 1, Jim Morrison; 2, J Thompson.

Group of three – 1, Jim Morrison; 2, Andrew Magowan.
